Not the candy-coated apple on a stick...this is a cinnamony apple side dish, served chilled.  Actually,  a pretty side dish as the apples turn a vibrant red during cooking.
Candied Apples
8 cooking apples
1-3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
9 oz. bag of small red cinnamon candies
Peel,  core and cut apples into eighths.  In a Dutch oven,  combine the sugar,  water and cinnamon candies.  Cook over medium heat,  stirring constantly,  about 10 minutes or until candies are dissolved.  Add apples and bring to a boil.  Cook about 5 minutes,  until apples are tender.  Cool.  Store covered in refrigerator.  Serve chilled.
